The disruptive innovation of the flashlight

Ledlenser was originally started by two brothers Harald and Rainer Opolka from Solingen who didn't have much more at their disposal than an old Atari computer, a set of tools, a drawing pad and around 1,000 German marks in start-up capital. Today, Ledlenser is an international company and one of the world market leaders for portable light.

In 2000, German base Ledlenser conquered the flashlight market by equipping a flashlight with an LED instead of a light bulb. This was an was absolutely visionary concept at the time. The "Photon Pump V8" was sold millions of times worldwide and established a new era of portable light – the same was achieved by the "P7" a few years later. In 2005, two further milestones were achieved: the development and patenting of the legendary Advanced Focus System and the foundation of the company's own production plant in Yangjiang, China.

Today, Ledlenser, the LED pioneer continues to disrupt in the marketplace by advancing the technology and quality of our products and to expand the product portfolio for a wide variety of usage scenarios – for example, with explosion-proof lamps, construction spotlights, work lights, lanterns, portable power, etc. All of these efforts reinforce Ledlenser’s leadership position in the marketplace verse the competition.
